Fantastic book! I've read it twice now, and I love it even more the second time! The book is much more developed than the film, allowing the reader to better understand the emotions the characters experience. I'm both sad and glad there's no sequel – the book is already fantastic in its own right, and a sequel might spoil it, but I'd love to know what happens next. I'm particularly interested in Wanda and Ian's fates – Ian stole my heart too.
However, I was homesick and had to return to it after a day of rest and read it a third time. It's the only book I've read twice in such a short space of a week. Anything for Ian – I need more characters like him!

You have to get through the desert! That's when the story really starts ❤️ it's worth it!
As always... the book is better than the movie.
This book has many tropes: body snatcher, dystopian world, a love triangle (quadrangle?), found family, enemies to lovers, and true love. I think that's all of them.
The story evolved beautifully, and I'm so happy I finally read this one.

As a person who became incredibly obsessed with the Twilight saga after reading it, I was super excited to start The Host. I was expecting it to be more similar to Twilight, you know the feeling when you miss a book and are just seeking something like it? This wasn’t an extension of Twilight by any means, but I would say it’s comforting to read something in Stephanie’s tone. For me it was a little slower of a start, the details are hidden at first, and that’s kind of what draws you in. Worth finishing, there is so much to find out about the universe she has created in the story. Touching description of relationships, as Meyers is so gifted at doing.
I just wasn't really getting into it. Maybe just wasn't in the right mood.
