I really really love this book, it’s definitely one of my favorites. But it’s low score is due to the anti-semitism, misogyny and so on. But otherwise, it’s a beautiful book.

Ender's Game is a classic for a reason. While one or two moments are cringy by today's standards, Ender's Game is definitely one of those novels that everyone should read at least once. Exploring such themes as culpability, communication and manipulation, Ender's Game really reads like it was plucked from the minds of its characters.

I picked up this book as part of a buddy read with a friend. After a lot of thought and discussion, I think I really enjoyed this novel! This novel follows Ender, a "third" (in this future world, you are only allowed to have two children), and his journey to help defeat an alien race. He is recruited into this program from a very early age, 6, and the story progresses until he becomes a teenager. From the beginning, the reader can see he is being manipulated by the adults to become the military leader they need.
Ender has two siblings: Peter, a very rough around the edges boy who is seemingly evil, and Valentine, an empathetic girl who is always watching out for Ender. One of my favorite aspects of this book is how Peter and Valentine's characters are used to highlight how Ender is a blend of both of them.
There were some very difficult to read scenes, especially with depictions of animal cruelty from Peter. It was also hard to read Ender's story in general because he was so young when he started with battle school, and you cannot help but feel like his childhood was stolen from him.

So exciting and compelling! Basically this is the book that made me be like, oh, sci-fi/fantasy is my jam, I should seek that out. It's a total page-turner with neat world-building, a really cool look at childhood and friendship and militarism. Most classic last-minute surprise twist of all time, for my money. Unfortunate that the author is a homophobic turd -- get used/from your local library, if at all possible.

This has become one of my favourite books, I love it a lot and it really helped me get into science fiction. I’d recommend to anyone just starting out in the genre (like I was). There are some pretty sad/heartbreaking moments in my opinion but I also tend to be overly emotional during books

The book was pretty interesting and had so many cool twists, some of which I didn't expect at all. It's slow at times and took me a bit to get into but I ended up really enjoying listening to this audiobook.

The author is a piece of shit which takes away some enjoyment from the book. I probably would have rated it a slightly higher star (3 or 3.5?) than what I did if it wasn't for the author of the series wasn't a homophobic mormon asshole.
