Could be four stars but the whiff of Ayn Rand, Stephen King's IT, and the uncertain chronology with Starship Troopers knocks it down. There's also some Owen Meany and Charlotte's Web, which I'm neutral on. Quirky Cold War musings and literary effluvia unexpectedly somewhat compelling. Three stats = 'I liked it' and that's about right.

It is a very solid book, the descriptions of leadership and internal dialogue are very well done. I do not understand the overpouring of love for this story. It is at time repetetive and pivotal moments will get much less attention and description than less important ones. Additionally, the brief changes in perspective are jarring rather than additionally informative especially in the case of Bean. It is a good story, not a great one. Maybe the only book where I would recommend watching the movie over reading the book.

It's very much a space sci-fi book from the 70s. Lots of mystery, adventure, and moral relativism.

Enders Game is a brilliant book. With the main protagonist being a child it gives a refreshing look into his psyche as well as the world around him
