I love Justin and Sydnee, but as others have pointed out, this book is poorly proofed and copy edited to an embarrassing, painful degree. Text is transposed and repeated. Words are missing, punctuation is randomly placed--pretty much every typographical error you can imagine is present here, on almost every page. Credit to the authors that I was able to make it through at all.

Only to discover that the last six pages of the book are glued together. Yup.

The publisher, Weldon Owen, needs to get its shit together. Its authors, and its readers, deserve better.

I haven't listened to the podcast, but I have heard Justin McElroy before through The Adventure Zone. A fun, light (albeit does dive into gross, not-safe-for-dinner topics), bantery book about the weird beliefs and cures people have attempted in centuries of medical history. I noticed occasional typos in my library's copy but overall it was an okay read.

If you love the podcast of the same name, you'll certainly love this book. If you are simply interested in the wacky road to modern medicine, this is still an excellent place to start! You will laugh and wince knowing what we do now.

I very much enjoy the Sawbones podcast. Sydney and Justin did a fantastic job bringing over some of the earlier episode content into this book. A super interesting read when you have time to digest it vs a podcast. Justin's humor is also found in this book, and while I enjoy listening to him more, it is still fun to see his humor in these pages.

The only reason I can't give this book five stars is for the egregious errors that many before me have already commented on. It's a bit embarrassing that a book with otherwise such commitment to quality writing, illustration, and research would fall so flat on its face in the editing department. I really hope a revised edition is released, especially so the last couple pages that are, in fact, glued together can become readable. Perhaps then I can give it the 5/5 it deserves for being a truly funny and interesting book.
