Oh, what to say that hasn’t already been said.
Loved the imagery, sincerity, and vulnerability of the story. I particularly enjoyed the first half of the story as we see them grow up and fall in love with each other. That part moved quickly and held my attention. As we moved into the second half, I became less invested. Achilles became a petulant child who lost all the depth he’d earned throughout the story, which is perhaps the point. Patroclus is his faithful keeper, who lost all self identity when they met and died protecting a child’s vision of importance and immortality only to be stuck again when he is tossed aside and forgotten. Only to be remembered by one who despises him and having his fate in her hands. Of course they get the happy ever after though.

I've been taught many stories of Greek mythology at school but this one has always been one of my favorites. This book delivered what I longed, a great love story.
