this was definitely like nothing I had ever read. But I loved it. I enjoyed the aliens and their thought processes. And despite thinking his human was a pet he treated her very well. And Mandy was artistic and optimistic. I enjoyed reading her point of view and loved their interactions once they could actually communicate with more than just gestures and assumptions. Also a very good don't judge a book by its cover story. So many aliens others say are evil and they are not the sum of their species. I do hope all of the aliens get happy endings.

So, did this book have problems? YES! Did that stop me from absolutely adoring it? NO!

The amount of times I smiled or giggled to myself while reading this is embarrassing. I’m so glad I was mostly by myself while reading this. Mostly.

This story is how I want to imagine I would act when abducted by aliens. Not freaking out, not crying my eyes out, not throwing up out of fear, just chilling, makin’ up nicknames for my new friends, painting on their walls, and generally ruling the house. Of course, if you know anything about me, that would not be the case, but a girl can dream. Let me pretend, okay?

This story was so unbelievably charming and adorable I think I went into overdrive. Yeah it has some issues, like how no one can really figure how to picture the aliens, or a bit of character change, or some grammar/spelling stuff, but honestly this story is so charming I can dismiss it all. I didn’t think I would be purchasing a book called “Mandy and the Tentacle Monster” AND proudly display it on my shelf, but I mean, come on. If this book can make my bitter soul smile, it must be something special.

My only true wishes for this book is that I wish the intimate scenes were more drawn out, because let’s face it, I’m a degenerate that only picked up this story based on the name and cover and that is what I wanted going into it. My preference. The shortness of the scenes do put more emphasis on the charming aspects of the story, so it isn’t necessarily a negative, just my deviant brain wanting more. The only other thing that really stuck out to me was the quickness that the three aliens disappeared. It was like, I blinked and they’re gone. Which I guess is kinda clever, because that’s really what happened to Mandy/Tiny. She went to bed, woke up, and they were missing. But it also felt jarring. You get used to it though, so really not a big deal.

Overall this is now one of my favorite books despite its flaws. I will def be reading the sequels. I love this world, the writing style (and yeah, I don’t normally like 1st person but I enjoyed it here), the characters, and the ooey gooey sweetness of it all. AND I do not like the pregnancy trope in the slightest, so if you can make me enjoy something like that, then you know this book is special.

Can some gentle tentacle aliens come abduct me so I can do art on their walls and not have to worry about money and stress and everything on earth? Aliens, if you’re reading this, this is my formal request.

Read it, it’ll make your heart melt.

Pacing was super disjointed and weird. I liked the characters individually but the way the romance occurred was weird and didn’t work for me at all.

It was fun, liked the twist on how aliens evolved and developed. Love the language barrier trope, plays through a good portion of the book. Wish there had been more indepth/detail scenes with how Seven and Mandy tried communicating in the beginning. There was potential to have some great 'dialog', but instead we had time skips - Suddenly 3 months have passed and this is where their relationship/communication is at now.  I wanted to read about HOW they got to that point!

Really would love to see a story with Sal and Shawn.

No because I loved how funny and cozy this book was! it was just such an entertaining read watching Mandy try to communicate with the aliens was hilarious. Seven was charming in his own way definitely a cinnamon roll alien. I cannot wait to read book two.

Some folks are saying that the cover comes off as Erotica (even Ruby Dixon said that, yes...Ruby Dixon read and LIKED this book!!!), but I just saw her as a pin-up girl, and pin-up girls/burlesque are all about the tease in my mind. And that's the mind-set you need for this book. It's cute, funny, and a tiny bit aggravating (because the H (not the h) is a bit TSTL at times), and sexy, but not over the top. Yes, the H has tentacles, but surprisingly, they are not a huge part of the sex scenes. Just, Elsa out (let it go) and read the book already. I would give this book a 2-3 chili pepper spice rating.

the best part of the book was when brothers were treating her like a pet. it was funny and adorable.

i struggled with perception of their proportions. how bigger seven was then mandy? also time went by too quickly. suddenly she was there with brothers for months or without them for 3 months.

i wish there was more romantic stuff. i wanted to see a morning after. but seven was abducted and mandy was left alone and pregnant.

didn’t appreciate the pregnancy trope.
