Fredrik Bakmann is and will always be my favourite author. And this is his best one yet (in my opinion).
I love his words, his characters and how he makes me cry while talking about humans and their inability of saying, what they want to say.

This book is about love, despair, kids, dumb choices, pizza, love, marriage, kids and their parents, money, capitalism, love and a bridge. It's about the connection between people and the irrational things we do, when we feel emotions that are to big to describe.

Backman is a magician. A magician of words and sentences and making one feel and cry and laugh and feel once again.

I wish, I could buy this book a thousand times and gift it to everyone I know.

Wow! Did not see the absurdity coming from the look of the cover or the name of the book. A really wild and hilarious story that is also dark and deeply thoughtful at the same time. It's ultimately hopeful, but takes on very heavy mental health themes.

This is the type of book that depends on your mood on whether you’ll enjoy it or not. When I started it, I wasn’t really in the mood for it. and I think that’s a shame. The story can be a little hard to get into. It’s jumbled and a little hard to follow with characters that come off as insufferable. The interview format is certainly a choice.

However, the connections that unfold as you get deeper into the book really have a hold on you, and it’s quite profound. There’s something about caring about people and supporting others. The last quarter of the book is my favourite, and I’m glad I finished it. An insightful read.

wow wow wow. a new favorite. it took me a second to get used to the style, jumping back and forth with seemingly (but actually never) unconnected plot lines, but everything starts to get wound together and details are filled in and it pays off so beautifully. this is a beautiful love letter to humanity.

This book. Wow, this was my first Fredrik Backman, and I’m in love. This story was incredibly kind, full of heart and wisdom, and filled with such relatable, human characters.

The little plot twists here and there, the way that Backman left me guessing—at times I thought I knew what was going on and then it all continued to evolve into one big, beautifully crafted, interwoven tale. The ending had me sobbing.

And Marin Ireland was a superb narrator 🤌🏼 Listening along made for such a delightful experience and really added to the personality of the characters. Looking forward to checking out the Netflix adaptation as well!

I loved this book so much 🥺❤️
