A nice little story about a dog and the impact she has on her family; a simple little feel good story for dog lovers. The audio version of this was an added plus as it was read by Dean Koontz himself.

This is a beautiful tribute to a special being. You’ll see why I say that when you read the book. I love Dean Koontz’s style of writing and it is present in this memoir (?). I loved hearing about people in his life and a bit of background on some of his books. Very sweet, very uplifting.

After working with abused animals and after losing many of my own pets to old age, I pretty much avoid stories about animals, because they tend to end with the inevitable -- this is a really beautiful, memorable book though, and I can't say enough about the author's love for his dog, Trixie.

It's a sweet book about a sweet dog, but there's not that interesting. He's telling a lot of stories about things the dog does, which is sort of the book equivalent of home movies. Dog books that I really enjoy tend to focus more on human thoughts and responses to the animals. Bit it's a really sweet book.

I am a huge fan of Dean Koontz and have been since I was seven years old. I've read everything I can get my hands on by this author, which means that I have been familiar with Trixie and her writing for a very long time. This book is an incredible tribute, not only to Trixie, but to dogs everywhere and to those who love them. Koontz writes in his book things I have felt through my life with my own furry friends but have never been able to put into words. I am grateful to have learned more about this special pup and the fabulous Canine Companions for Independence organization.

Although a little slow in places, overall it was a heartwarming story about a great dog and how she changed the life of the people that loved her.

I had a really hard time finishing this book. I don't feel like it was so much about the dog, as a detailed description of the author's life and all of the other books he has written. The only part that kept my attention were the small example of text from the book the dog "wrote" & the end where the dog is going thru numerous surgeries. Glad I didn't buy this one.

For anyone who has ever had a dog and been convinced that the animal understood people and the world in an uncanny way, this unique memoir will only reinforce that belief. For Koontz, Trixie is much more than simply a dog, and this book beautifully describes her essence and personality. This is a great book for dog lovers and those who love animal-themed works. Even for those who do not like dogs, the book offers some interesting glimpses into the personal life of this popular author.
