This sequel excellently carries on the upswing of the previous book, to a frightening degree. It gets darker, grittier, more violent. The Chekov's guns from book one all pop off here. It was quite a bit to squeeze into one installment, leaving me to me wonder where the third book has left to go.

There's a very specific turn this storyline takes (
the invention and mass production of firearms
) which I'm not sure i'm in favor of, but I'll reserve judgement until I see how it ultimately plays out.

The series continues to be a pleasure, and I can't imagine ever consuming it in any way other than Luke Arnold reading the audiobook. I love the direction this is all going, and I'm really looking forward to more.
