I have read this before, and I loved it just as much the second time. It’s pretty fast paced, and mainly revolves around smut, but if that’s what you’re looking for, this great story that will have you kicking your feet and giggling.

i don’t know what i was expecting, but i don’t think it was this. i listened to this on libby and i don’t know if i would’ve liked it differently if i were to read it physically instead.

zeus announces that he is marrying persephone (fmc), but it’s her mom that had this marriage arranged behind her back. so she flees to the other side of the river on her own accord and runs into hades (mmc). everyone thought hades is just a myth, even tho they still call him part of the 13 gods.

i liked the story and the plot with the tension, but the spice just felt a little off to me. i don’t know why, but it was kinda cringe, especially listening to it. and it felt like it was a big chunk of the book. i also don’t really understand the whole “modern take on the greek gods” because i can’t picture them in the modern world when they still have a treaty that keeps hades out of the 13 and on his side of the river

this book was AMAZING. like did not want to put it down. hades is the definition of i hate everyone in the world but you and reading his chapters was so sweet because you could see how in love he was with persephone from the start. persephone reminded me a lot of myself because she felt like she had to put on a mask in front of her family and not be who she truly is which is a fucking badass. hades and persephone are truly soulmates and to read how they were both falling in love with each other through their povs i adored. there’s also poc and bisexuality representation in this book as well as side characters that are poc. i will definitely be rereading this book in the future because i loved it so so much. one of my favorite reads of 2021.

Was gonna be four stars because it’s absolutely the filth I needed, and then the [unnecessary puppy storyline showed up (hide spoiler)] and it went down to three stars, and then I realized wow Olympus really is an incredibly walkable city, four stars just for that, but then the [unnecessary moralizing about killing tyrants showed up. Shut UP, if you are literally the KING OF HELL I don’t want to hear you ache about how killing a dictator makes you no better than the dictator. What a copout!!! (hide spoiler)] I don’t have the same complaints about world-building as some other readers because I know exactly why I picked up this book and it wasn’t for descriptions of city planning and local politics.
