Whew—Neon Gods came in hot! This was my first ride with Katee Robert, and let’s just say... I came for Greek mythology, but stayed for the steam (and whew, there’s a lot of it). This Hades x Persephone retelling gave "BDSM boardroom meets Olympus after dark" energy, and while the heat was definitely turned up, I found myself craving a little more depth in the story and the characters.
Don’t get me wrong—if you're looking for fast-paced, no-holds-barred romance with wide open doors (and I mean wide), this might just scratch that itch. The tension builds, the scenes sizzle, and the vibe is straight-up decadent. But as a mythology lover, I was hoping for a deeper dive into the gods behind the names. Instead, it felt like Greek vibes were more aesthetic than anchor.
Still, this book was fun, freaky, and full of high-stakes chemistry. If your bookshelf needs a lil’ chaos, kink, and kingdom-level drama? Slide this one into your TBR. Just know you're getting more heat than heart.

This read like a not-so-good fanfiction. And don’t get me wrong—I enjoy fanfiction from time to time. But if that’s what I want, I’ll go to AO3, not my local library. And I prefer good fanfiction 😄.
The perfect balance of plot and spice. I really liked all the characters too, fmc wasn’t too damsel in distressy and mmc was the perfect balance of a badass and good person.
