Beautifully atmospheric - would make a great Halloween-type read - highly recommended if you like your stories with more than just a pinch of magic in them.

An adorable adventure through time and place in the fictional village of Crowstone following Betty and her sisters, not to mention a couple rogues. The stakes are high but the feel stays cozy. This is the best middle grade book I’ve read this year.

It was a nice lesson on sisterhood but some of the turns were a tad brutal and annoying. Still very entertaining!

Een prachtig kinderboek die niet kinderachtig is geschreven, maar juist de jonge lezer serieus neemt. De wereld was fantasierijk, maar zonder suikerlaagje. De zussen Widdersinne hadden duidelijke persoonlijkheden, maar waren geen karikaturen. Het centrale mysterie was goed opgezet en het plot hield de spanning er goed in, al leek de oplossing wel nogal plotseling uit een hoed (of een tas) te zijn getrokken. Bij elkaar een zeer geslaagd boek die ik zeker aan kan raden.
