Received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for a honest review. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

"I think we all realized we were stronger together than apart.”

You can never go wrong with Elle Spencer! I haven't read and Spencer book i didn't love.
This is really cute and perfect for when you need a pick me up. There wasn't a character I didn't end up loving. The banter, the relationships between the characters are great. Loved the mellow hippy parents, the loving brother, the mildy crazy BFF Liz, I even ended up loving Reece, and of course the MCs.And I was actually a tiny bit disappointed that it didn't end up with Reece/Brie/Whitney being together but ill take the nice ending I got.
There's of course the inevitable "blowup" around 80-90% mark which j think almost all les books have but it was resolved sweetly.
Even though the page number makes you think its a short story it ended up feeling longer. :)

Casting Lacey is still my favorite Spencer book and I really loved the throwback we got to it. It was just a nice way of reminding us of that book without it being too obvious.

I'm always up for reading Elle Spencer and I can't wait til her next book!

I don’t know what to say about this one. The story went all over the place for me. No real buildup but before I knew it love. And than there was loving-hating the ex. And...stuff that I thought were going to happen didn’t. And...yeah...3 stars.

4 stars, I liked this book. It was a very casual read and I do recommend it.

Whitney is an author who’s going through a divorce from the famous Reece. One night at a bar she meets Brie. When a small misunderstanding leads to them having sex both of their lives are about to change- more so Brie’s than Whitney’s.

My only complaint is there was a big part in the middle of this book where Whitney and Brie didn’t have any build. The chemistry between them stops and the plot solely focuses on Brie, which makes sense and does add to the story but I do think some more scenes between them could’ve made the story even better as there is a lack of buildup. They sleep together, have a small misunderstanding and then suddenly they like each other after two more meetings. Then soon after Brie suddenly decides she loves her which to me felt very lack luster.

The later part of the book where conflict does arrive between the two did somewhat help but not fully.

Again I still do recommend as the book was very easy to read and had a nice flow.

Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for the arc in return for an honest review.

If you've ever watched Young Justice, you know there's a character named Miss Martian who frequently slaps her forehead in despair and says, "Hello, Megan!"

Really wished Whitney would have done that here.

This relationship felt disjointed at times, from Brie being a bit starstruck to Whitney isolating herself for no reason. And to me, sounds like Whitney could have used some therapy to help herself write beyond a tiny cabin by herself in the middle of nowhere.

Some of the side character annoyed me and the vibes were off

One of the better lesfics I've read: the premise is fun, the sex was immediate and sexy. I def wanted at least 50 more pages for better character development and there was not nearly enough groveling at the end from our shitty behaved LI. Still, most relationships were functional (rather than the dysfunction so often demonstrated in lesfic) (although there was such a weird relationship vibe between Brie and her twin brother).

I just like Elle's work. This was a bit muddled up, I'm still not sure how Whitney's ex and Brie end up such good friends (the whole threesome thing was overcooked even as a con) and the plot is sort of all over the place. I did NOT like Whitney's retreat to her cabin, that seemed out of character for her at that point of the book, though wouldn't have been earlier, and the way she treated Brie there was inexcusable.

That said, I just will sign on for anything Elle writes, she's just a go to for a fun read with a happy ending and I'm a sucker for those. I'll read anything she writes and enjoy it. I'd REALLY love to have that beach house, sounds like a perfect place for a recluse like me. I enjoyed this a lot overall, though I could easily have done without Liz and her unceasing snark, that one is a pill, liked everyone else though. I even liked Brie's parents getting back together, though a 30 year old should never react the way Brie did, expect that from a child, not an adult. Still, I really enjoyed the book.

ARC received via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was somewhat of a mixed bag. The main characters are interesting, there’s Whitney, a popular author who has just spilt from her Hollywood superstar wife and now has writer’s block, and Brie, who has a book review blog and gave a bad review to Whit’s last book. They meet at a conference where Whit is speaking and hook up through a ridiculous contrivance. Whit doesn’t know who Brie is til later, and this then blows up. Brie then takes to essentially stalking Whit and they eventually spend time together as ‘friends’ and then sexy time friends.

Whit’s ex wife Reece also features heavily as she’s the lead actress in a movie being made of Whit’s books and though I assumed she’d be a git, she’s actually one of the best characters. Other characters include Brie’s family, complete with a way overly protective mother, ok dad and awesome brother. Whit also has an agent/BFF who honestly was just really hard to take (Brie’s mother wasn’t far behind). The main relationship evolves over time, but a lot of the scenarios were too over the top, including the major dramatic section towards the end and the eventual reunion.

Most of the dialogue is fun, but there were quite a few ‘jokes’ that missed the mark and just made me cringe. I did like that Reece wasn’t the usual awful ex, she was good to both Whit and Brie, and I liked the friendship between her and Brie so much that I did actually wonder if a poly relationship might occur and I wouldn’t have minded. To be honest I actually liked her better than Whit and would have preferred her and Brie together.

The end gets tied into a big HEA bow to round everything out, but overall I found the book too uneven to really sink into it. 3 stars.
