It is a very interesting and intricate story of a family - I really loved the relationship between Danny and Maeve. However, sometimes the story dragged on a bit. It was a lesson in patience and being able to focus on more mundane details though - they are important too!

Listened to this on Audible. Tom Hanks was perfect.

This struck me as an unremarkable American story. It just felt real. But oddly that’s what made it remarkable.

A solid 4-star book that gained a star in the last few pages.

The Dutch house beautifully paints the complicated themes of resentment and forgiveness with an engaging plot. I almost wish Maeve was the narrator instead of Danny, and she is the far more intersting sibling, to me. I didn't care much for Danny as a character.
