Beautiful reflections that read like having coffee with a trusted friend

I really loved this book! These short reflections were honest and to the point. Maria shared her life experiences (good & bad) to illustrate each theme. She shared wisdom and life lessons and urged her readers to reflect on their own lives and be the best they can be. I felt like I was chatting with a best friend over a cup of coffee. I highly recommend this book.

I can’t wait to give this book to a few people that I have in mind already. If you want a great book to listen to on a run or when you have a few minutes - get this on audible. Hoping to pick up physical copies to keep nearby and to give to friends. I found the insight offers by Maria Shriver to be excellent. At times a bit listy and repetitive - but I thought this book was remarkable.

3.5. more religious than I generally gravitate towards, and I didn't relate to all of the content, but overall a sweet book with good wisdom. I enjoyed listening.

My rating is more like a 2.5. My nana gave this to me and loved it.. I found parts of it motivational and the book was peaceful to read as it is all about getting you in the mindset to live a better life and I like Maria Shriver. I did find some of it a little bland and wanted more out of it and each essay ends with a prayer to God, which, she does say doesn’t need to be God but any power higher than yourself, but the essays were pretty Catholic-based as well. Again, totally fine, but not my cup of tea.
I also think maybe if I was older I could’ve appreciated more aspects of her stories since she discusses motherhood and life in general from the view of a 60 year old women, so our experiences just aren’t in sync yet.

This was a nice little book. Different then others I’ve read this year because it was non-fiction. It was a book of reflection and prayers based on experiences from her life. It is not a “sit down and read all at once” kind of book. I read it little by little, a few reflections a day, usually in the morning but sometimes in the evening. It was the first time this year I read a book at the same time I was reading another one because it was so different in content and type of book, I knew I wouldn’t confuse the two, overall I liked it very much.

Received this book as a gift and felt compelled to try it out. Not my typically genre of read, but I was impressed by how much I enjoyed it. Extreme parallels to my life, and many others I’d imagine, and felt that it was the perfect time in life to read it.

If you’re looking for a memoir providing a glimpse into the pulpy moments of Shriver’s life, look elsewhere. But if you’re in need of a prayer or meditation partner with a familiar voice, here you go.

Initially, I found "I've Been Thinking" to be shallow and a bit trite. If you're there, keep reading. Halfway through, I was hooked! There are many pages I will photocopy for my bulletin board: The Power of Thank You, Sixty Lessons, The Power of Reevaluating.
