A title better understood as the original interpretation of "Liberation Through Hearing During the Intermediate State". The text is inspiring and peace-inducing with its fantastic ideas and metaphor-laden prose despite the ritualistic and what may be perceived by some as flowery verbosity in its written style and content.
In certain circumstances, the text can be truly life-changing and comforting especially when those circumstances revolve around the anxieties of mortality, general existential dread and/or the unresolved resentment of life.

I found the language difficult to follow - perhaps because I am not familiar with they background language and mythology - the thoughts of death and afterlife and desire give me things to think about.

A fascinating text that in many ways reminds me of Dante's Divine Comedy in its detail of the afterlife and the trials souls must go through (in this case, to break the cycle of reincarnation). There is a lot going on in this volume that I simply cannot grasp. The importance of gender, the metempsychosis of the soul, transience, and non-attachment, are paramount ideas that the reader is meant to already be familiar with. My lack of knowledge made the text a bit boring at times, but the moments of intense violence and beauty that pepper this book easily made up for it.

Текст почти весь состоит из заунывного перечня десятков имен шестируких божеств, которые помогут чуть более или чуть менее правильно прекратить твой жизненный путь.
Мне нравится сама идея.
Всем нам случается иногда оказаться в больнице или другой ситуации, где можно увидеть, как страшно тяжело умирают пожилые люди.
Или осознать как ты, пышущий здоровьем и глубоко погруженный в сотни социальных контактов, внезапно, порой за секунды, оказываешь беспомощным и вообще все становится неважно. Это может быть авария, сердечный приступ (который может быть и у абсолютно здорового человека) и так далее.
Не всем суждено умереть, обмотанными трубками в интенсивной реанимации. Но умрем мы все, и многие - не очень приятным образом.
Данную книгу тибетцы уже тысячи лет читают умирающим (уже умершим - тоже).
И это попытка успокоить и смирить умирающего с неизбежным.
