damn what did kennedy ryan put in this?? 🥵 this shit was goooood!

this is 2 novella stories in one featuring side characters from the HOOPS series and i wasn’t expecting to enjoy it as much as i did. i would have taken full length books about these couples but the novellas did the trick.

kennedy ryan’s book men are such simps and i live for it every single time.

I was so excited to read Avery and Mack's story!!! From the minute we were first introduced to them as a couple I was invested and need to know how they got together. Man, even in a novella, Kennedy Ryan is going to pack in as much emotional trauma as she can lol. I'm sensing another theme though: protective alpha male with a huge scoop of teddy bear tendencies. Mack was exactly that. I loved how Avery was a sports reporter. As someone who watched a lot of fierce black women talks about basketball on ESPN, I was happy we got to see that reflected in a Kennedy Ryan romance.

Quinn and Ean's love story was short and sweet. She is such an inspiring character. For someone so outspoken about what she's been through, finding the strong and silent type in Ean is definitely the balance she needed. Her speech at the ESPY awards was award-winning in itself. Ean was literally the blueprint for the "he falls first" trope. I loved when he asked her out at the panel she was speaking at. Talk about shooting your shot!
