Ziva is a bladesmith who can also apply magic to her weapons - cannot be broken, always hits the target, etc. She is commissioned by a warlord to make a weapon and Ziva accidentally magics the weapon to have long range striking and reveals the secrets of the victims to the holder of the sword. She realizes it is too powerful and runs of with her sister, a librarian and a mercenary to try and hide the sword. The story was ok but not enough to interest me into reading the rest of the series.

- This book wasn't really my favorite. I felt just kind of meh about it. I love a lot of Levenseller's other books, but I just didn't connect with the characters in this book, which made me not be invested in the story.
- The magic system in the book was really cool, and I loved seeing the weapons be created and the powers that they have! It was probably my favorite part of the book
- I really liked seeing a character with social anxiety (especially a main character), since that's something that I've rarely seen. I enjoyed that aspect, but I just didn't like Ziva that much or really feel connected to her, which really impacted the read for me
- I really wanted to like this book, but it just didn't do it for me. I'm not sure if I'm going to read the sequel (honestly would read it mostly just for Patrick and her sister), but will see

Ziva is smith who has the ability to forge magical blades. She accidentally makes a very powerful blade but for the wrong person. This leads to Ziva and her sister on the journey to keep the sword away from those with I'll intentions.
This is such a unique concept for a fantasy book. I've never read a book about bladesmiths let alone a female smith with magic. Ziva also has social anxiety and the representation was one the best I've ever seen. I absolutely adored her relationship with her sister, Temra.
The plot was consistent and the side characters were also very well developed. I loved to see them all bond and form friendships as they carry on their which is filled with danger at every turn.
It was a breath of fresh air.

A magical metalsmith who accidentally creates a sword that can kill from a distance, who is running from a warlord who wants the weapon with an interesting cast of characters. Her sister, a scholar, and a mercenary for hire (who is conveniently handsome). Epic battles and a bit of romance make for an intriguing story along with a suspenseful ending will make me seek out the next book.
Oh Fable Crate you have done it again and brought me a glorious book of wonder that I likely wouldn't have found on my own!
I loved it. A sort of simple book with a simple premise but so many little pieces that make it an enjoyable read. I loved the dynamics between the characters and the little bits of magic woven between. Didn't end where I'm expected but I'm here for it and excited for the next edition.
I love the authors take on an anxious character and what goes on in her mind. I've never read a book like it that truely had a main character who had panics attacks and true anxiety so it was interesting to see from that characters perspective.

Don’t have much to say about this book besides the fact that it feels like the MC was written by a NT’s understanding of what crippling social anxiety feels like. Other than that I enjoyed what I will consider ace rep, for the few chapters I was allowed to believe it.
