- the writing style was definitely not at all for me (never going to read a book from this author again, but maybe it's for someone else)
- the pace of this book was way to fast for me (I think it span 1 month)
- he had a strong character development, she not so much in my opinion
- I cringed was too often
- the plot had potential

Annie was the side character I was most curious about in the first book and this book gave us a chance to really see the woman behind the angelic reputation she has come to resent. Will was also very nice to read about - maybe a little predictable, but not at all in a bad way. An innocent florist/romance reader with a desire to find a life-changing love meets an experienced floral-tattooed bodyguard determined not to fall in love as he teaches her how to date… I will eat that right up!

Like Will, I am also a firm believer that “I regret the things I never said way more than the things I have said.” I don’t like what-ifs and I’m glad Annie and Will are not one of those!

I, oddly enough, like how one of the main plot points of the book is how Annie and Will help each other process the traumas of their childhoods. Annie finally allowing herself to face and feel the loss of her parents, whom she was too young to remember, meant recognizing how she coped by supporting everyone else in their grief and not adding to their pain by experiencing her own. Will, however, needed to recognize that he has avoided the possibility of love not because he doesn’t want it, but because of his fear of not being loved in return, a result of his neglectful parents whose angry and manipulative marriage distorted his view of relationships.

I loved the scene when Annie confronts her sisters (Amelia included) about how her sweetness is not her sole defining characteristic and she is sick of being underestimated and put in that perfect angel box. The triple-reveal of how each sister has a favorite romance book trope was funny! Annie getting her tattoo was also a highlight - the reason behind it, what she chose, and Will’s reaction.
“You think I would be…sexy with a tattoo?”
“No, Annie. Don’t get it twisted. I already think you’re sexy without a tattoo. So I know for sure you would be with one.” Now that’s a DAMN good line.

Finally, it has to be said that Will’s grand gestures are pretty unbeatable. He decides to stay in Rome. He buys a trucks to fully belong. He buys a house to fully commit. He takes Annie traveling AND proposes to her every week. The man doesn’t do anything half-assed! Him acting out her pirate fantasies was adorable icing on a very sexy cake.
