To begin with, I thought the novel was a bit of a melodrama and couldn’t really identify thriller tropes and didn’t find anything “thrilling”.   However, as I continued reading, I finished the book in one sitting: I cried, laughed and felt so many other emotions - it’s a literal rollercoaster. It’s terrifying how one mistake has terrifying consequences - a bad childhood doesn’t always mean the child is inevitably going to be broken or ‘damaged’ - it is their choices that make them or break them. I only gave it four stars as it was hard to get into to start off with as mentioned at the beginning

Some aspects a bit far fetched for me to properly connect with the story, but the characters and how it's told is phenomenal, theres just something about Marrs' writing.

I wouldn't necessarily call this a thriller as I thought it was (based on his other books so that's my bad), but a suspenseful, character driven mystery full of surprises
