Wow. I originally picked up this book from the shelf because the cover looked a little odd. I read the blurb on the inside, and I was very intrigued by it. Upon reading and finishing the book in two days. I could relate to the struggles that the character faced, and I think the text is very well written. If you are looking for a quick, emotion, good book, this might be the one!

I'm reading a huge stack of novels in verse. This is one where I'm not sure why it was told in verse...and besides it making the story move faster, I didn't feel the free verse poetry added anything to the narrative. I didn't care for the main character, so I had a hard time wanting things to work out for her.

I didn't like it. Not really.

I kinda sorta really super extremely wish i hadn't spent so much being excited over reading this book once I finally got it off hold.

It's not the best book I've ever read, but not the worst book either.

MINOR SPOILER ALERT

The story felt so boring the way that she said it. All of her sentences were short and to the point, but only about one little detail. It could've been a lot easier to read if she had just gotten the words out of her mouth in one sentence.
Maybe I'm too young to understand but her memories felt so. . . disjointed. I mean, I guess that was the whole point of making each store a different chapter, but still. It was like she was telling all of her worst memories in a droning audiobook sort of tone. She looks up to her minimal amount of friends as though they were goddesses who randomly chose her to be friends with. I noticed that she doesn't think of her and her friends as equals.
Tessa only focuses on the wrong thing of what she's doing, even though she didn't realize it. Sure, she does have some happy moments, but when she does, she doesn't take he liberty to go out in detail as much as she does for what she supposed other people thought of as wrong. Also, she whines waaaay to much for me, and can't just take the blame for herself. If she wanted to be a good person with a normal moral compass then she should've acted like one. I really can't stand someone who whines about a problem instead of actually fixing it.
The story didn't have much of a plot to me. I mean sure, I get it, sparkles are pppppeeeerrrrttyyyyy and if you think of yourself as one you'll be a better person. I was really hoping for a spectacular ending to make up for the rest of the book, but no, it had to take a turn for a been there, seen that movie, read that quote, done that. I wouldn't read it again. I'm pretty sure the only reason I gave this book 3 stars is for the (minimal) amount of funny moments and my high tolerance of books.

I really enjoyed this book, I have always liked books by Wendy Mass and this one did not disappoint. It was an incredibly quick read, partly because it it written in verse. It funny, strange, and a bit different but so much fun.
This book follows a girl named Tessa who is knocked out by a dodgeball, and wakes up in Heaven, which looks a lot like the mall. Tessa soon begins reliving her life through the good and the bad, learning things about herself she didn't want to know, all leading to her answering the one question, but what is the question?
This book was just loads of fun, with bit of A Christmas Carol thrown in, it just a blast. All in all I had tons of fun reading this, and can't wait to continue reading more books by Wendy Mass.

when tessa is knocked unconscious during a game of P.E. dodgeball, she wakes up in a mall of dreams. each store represents something in her life that she feels badly about or isn't proud of. ultimately she learns that she can get beyond these things, and decide to be a different person anytime she wants to.

i thought this laid it on pretty thick- "you sparkle, tessa!" but i can see younger teenage girls enjoying it. also, novels in poetry don't ever seem to make it onto my favorites list. such is life.

so little books can divulge to you this carefully that the person you are reading about and caring about is really, maybe, quite possibly, the bad guy in the narrative.

for future grace
girl gets hit in the head with dodgeball - goes to mall heaven - lives out the story of items she bought from the mall - discovers she was a liar, cheat, and not good person -wakes up out of coma - also drill bit man.
