I was so excited to read this based on the fact it was set around a ren faire, and the setting definitely lived up to what I wanted. I thought the ren faire of it all was really fun and I enjoyed the fact that Simon was a stickler for historical accuracy. That said, I didn’t really love any of the characters and the relationship moved both very slowly (at the start) and very quickly (at the end). It was also single POV and I thought that Emily was just a bit…thick? Like everything said to her went in one ear and out the other? So that left me a bit frustrated as the reader. Overall, enjoyable enough but not sure I’ll pick up the rest of the series.

The heroine was kind of dense. The hero was a butthead. They both needed therapy.

Also,
WOOING SHOULD TAKE MORE THAN ONE DAY! ✋️😭

But it was cute, I guess?? It kept me entertained 🤷‍♀️

An amazing read, this book encompasses a ren faire love story, growing closer to family , and rewriting experiences with trust after shitty experiences.

I really loved this book. Especially with how books and Shakespeare were a running theme due to the two romantic mcs being Shakespeare nerds.

One of my fave lines is repeated a few times in the book and is one I will always hold near and dear to my heart.

A wonderful read, especially as I’m reading it now as much of it is set in summer through to august so I felt fully involved in it as I Read on

Any book you read in a day and think about all throughout your day is a 5 star book. I was completely in love with Simon the pirate, making a play for the new girl. His persona in leather pants. Plus Mitch in the kilt ? I fell in love with basically every character in this small town and my heart soared with this couples every interaction. Plus it wasn’t predictable. I went out and bought the other two books immediately. If you like romance books at all, you will love this series. Amazing writing. I’m officially sucked in.

This was a cute read, if not a little cringy at points. The characters had good depth to them and didn’t experience instant love. Will definitely be reading the series.

Fun -- though predictable -- romance. Who doesn't love Ren faires and hot English teachers?

This was adorable. It took me a little to get into it, but once it got going I was sucked in. I loved all the characters - the protagonist, the love interest and the glorious array of supportive, fleshed-out side characters. Just lovely.

It wasn’t overly fluffy, and dealt with heavy themes amidst the romance. As per usual I skimmed the
explicit sexual content
as that is really, REALLY not my thing. The dynamic of the romance was wonderful though and I loved how both characters had growth both in the context of the relationship as well as personally. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series!

“I don’t think you’ve ever been wooed. Have you? . . . Courted. Swept off your feet. Had someone show you how you make him feel.”
“I…can’t say that I have.” That was an understatement.
“Then brace yourself.” He straightened up and backed away from me a step or two. “I’m going to woo your ass off.”
