This book was super sweet, I love reading second chance romance books. I loved getting to read about the two grouchy old men again.

This is my favourite Devney Perry book. I just love Molly and Finn. This isn't a popular trope: divorced couple but Devney makes it work. It's so well written. It's a beautiful story about love, loss, grief and putting the pieces back together. This is the second book in the Maysen Jar series and I highly recommend reading The Birthday List first. Molly and Finn go through so much together. I highly recommend this book. This series has wonderful side characters too.

I really enjoyed this story. I already liked Molly from 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘪𝘳𝘵𝘩𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘓𝘪𝘴𝘵 and love her after this story. She was so closed off, and through the letters she was able to face her emotions and heal. Finn wasn’t my favorite but he grew on me as the story went on. I love the second chance trope, and I liked that they really fought for theirs. I would absolutely recommend this.

𝘽𝙇𝙐𝙍𝘽:

Molly Alcott didn't expect to open her mailbox one summer morning and find an old letter stuffed between bills and a supermarket flyer. Penned in familiar handwriting, dated over fifteen years ago, the letter was written to Molly after her first date with the man she'll never forget.

Week after week, new letters appear. Each marks an event in the history of their epic love affair. Each heals a wound. Each holds the confession of the man who still owns Molly's heart.

The letters are full of promise, hope, and love, but truth be told, Molly wishes she could unread them all.

Because the man who wrote these letters is not the one sending them.

I read this one in a day. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a great book, but it's emotionally draining. I didn't want to put it down because I was afraid I wouldn't pick it back up.

Some marriages are healthy. Some marriages are toxic. Some start out healthy but can become toxic for any number of reasons. Molly and Finn were destined to go the distance until life happened. A family tragedy, the pressures of building a business, and the responsibilities of homeownership and parenting led to a breakdown in communication which spiraled into resentment, distrust, and disrespect that bordered on emotional abuse.

As much as I loved their story, in real life, this would have been one that  probably wouldn't have recovered. There is never one thing or event that ends a relationship. It's a progression that causes the foundation to crumble under the weight of all the baggage that has been heaped on top of it. Sometimes  that baggage is just too much or too damaging to unpack without professional help. If both aren't committed to working through it and saving what's left with the intention of building a stronger marriage, it's time to let go altogether or form a different type of relationship.

Six years is a stretch. Six months would have been more realistic. I thought Perry did an amazing job breaking it down and connecting the dots, but the ending was a Hail Mary.

Good story. HEA, Second chance, some miscommunication. Narrators on the audio are excellent. I could have done with the fake memorial scene in the epilogue, but other than that I liked it.

This book is interesting for me to rate, I was hooked throughout the whole book wanting to know what happened and also getting annoyed with the characters and how much Finn was oblivious to how he was effecting the women in his life, like Molly or Bridget.

I would give this book a 3.5 I down since it kept me hooked and I wanted to see how it would play out, but something was missing from the overall story, I can't put my finger on it.

I will say that I am not sure if this trope is for me, I get that it is a second chance romance and they got a divorce because at the time it was the right thing to do. I don't know how to put it in words but something felt off, it felt like yeah they were worried about how their kids would react, which is understandable, but being a child that has parents who are divorced, seeing your parents in any kind of more than friendly relationship is weird and can send mixed messages.

I think that the way the story was told I never had a dull spot where I put the book down because I was bored. I like Devney Perry's writing I have rated many of her other books 4 or 5 stars, but this one even though the writing was good, it wasn't a story for me. I would still recommend it though, once Finn decided to change he became more enjoyable. It was a cute second chance romance, but for me some spark or something was missing from the book to make it a 5 star read for me.

I adored this book so much!! Out of the Maysen Jar duology, this is my favourite. This book was full of so much emotion and pain - it did actually make me cry. I fell in love with the characters in book one and fell even more in love in this one. The letters!!! They were everything - Iloved the emotions that were portrayed. Just an all round 5 star read. Highly recommend!!
