wasn’t too sure what this novel was trying to accomplish… it was too short to truly delve into the main character’s motives & too surface-level to be a commentary on japanese feminism. guess we’ll never know.

Interesting read! I was really invested to finish it, but overall it’s a pretty odd book. It is very deadpan and leaves a lot to the imagination, ie: leaving out character’s motives, feelings, etc.

crazy (but not surprising) how quick men are to change up when a woman is pregnant. don't blame shibata for faking the pregnancy tbh
