I thought this was an amazing sequel to Rosemarked. It was very intense in many areas, and a "calm before the storm" vibe for others. The ending was not one i anticipated, which i enjoyed.
i thought through most of the book that Zivah would somehow find a cure, and though i cried when she didn't, I'm glad they didn't try to shove in that aspect, and focused on the main idea.

I beta read an early draft of this book, and I cannot wait to see the finished version when it releases next year. This a YA fantasy duet not to be missed.

Fantastic book, loved learning more about this world, and the characters were so great to read about! And that ending was pretty great, though it wasn't 100% happy, it was satisfying!

This was a really great ending to the duology!!!! Absolutely loved it!!!

I think this was more of a 4.5 as I struggled a bit more with this book than the previous one but, you know what? It was worth it. I think the setup of the story is certainly popular with YA fantasy but the execution here made it stand out in my mind. I still love the science fiction-y aspects, and I found a lot of the dilemmas regarding ethics and morality regarding medicine, imperialism, and the various intersections of both absolutely fascinating. I love that we follow many characters who are complicated but compelling. The ending does veer into bittersweet territory but it was so ultimately hopeful that I can't fault it.
