This book was good up until the end. And then it was great.

This was a very engaging read. Watching one species in a desperate attempt to survive while the other evolved through time. Dr. Avrana Kern was my favorite of the characters. Would have enjoyed learning more of what was happening to her satellite over all those years in orbit.

An entertaining adventure of the last of humanity coming into conflict with their own unintentional creation. Dealing in evolution, brutality, and empathy. I enjoyed seeing the spider society advance and develop. Much of the book deals with many sci-fi tropes, but combined in a satisfying new way. Adding a touch of hard science fiction is fun, but I wish there was more of it.

An exceptional exploration of the human reality when penned up on ships for thousands of years with suspension pods and failing equipment. Characters of epic proportions, a must read for any fan of sci-fi.
