rating this book feels very wrong. Prince's story is deeply tragic, and there are millions of stories like hers. take caution when you're reading, as it isn't an easy read.

I have had to read this book twice for different classes and every time I am heavily impacted by the words written down. Mary Prince's history is one that is jarring and filled with violence but is so important in telling the narratives of the millions of enslaved voices that were lost to time.

A horrifying account of one of woman’s experience in slavery. While these are her words, she is not the woman who wrote the words down. And I fear some meaning was lost due to this.

This was an account of slavery is Bermuda written by the slave, Mary Prince, in the 1830's. It was written through Mary's eyes and published in England. The book was short and focused on her punishments which were disgusting but the book offered little else. Very depressing.
