it's not that it's actually awful but it was so dense and slow it made it boring and unbearable. it didn't help that I couldn't connect nor even specially care about any of the characters–not to mention I did hate how the female characters were treated. the only one who seemed nice was lena and she didn't even appeared much.
I get the book wanted to show how andrew and ed gravitated towards each other, how they had such a special and strong bond but de
l didn't deserved to be treated that way, it's repulsive. idk, it irked me how female characters just didn't had any other role than being used sexually by men who, yeah they had repressed feelings and such but still.. (that one teacher doesn't count but come on I can't properly talk about her without some grade of spoilers )

4.5 stars but this one was tricky for me to rate. It’s definitely a slow burn and took me some time to really get into it. Dark academia meets Southern gothic, reflections on grief and queerness…I would definitely reread because there were also details I missed the first time. Full RTC

i love a ghost story set during the summer. the southern gothic vibes were *chefs kiss* the end felt pretty rushed but the VIBES make up for it.

the characters and their dynamics and relationships are great. i don't really get the plot, maybe it's not my genre.
but sam and andrew. i loved Sam's development. and riley is just amazing.
