The dialogue seemed very immature. I didn't feel any connection between the characters. Just found myself skimming through to get through the book.

This wasn't you typical book about finding love after so many years apart, this was a story about Cade and his struggle with alcohol and how it plays into everything he does. You see how it has taken over his life and leads to events that resulted in him losing the only girl that he ever loved. It is not just a story but a journey to one mans addiction, bad judgments and the realization that if he wants to be with this girl he needs to heal himself. Francesca is a strong female character, she loved Cade so long ago but was deeply hurt by him but can she forgive him and help him to recover. Felicia Tatum writes a beautiful story told by both Cade and Francesca's points of views. Love this author and can't wait for more of Franny and Cade, oh and Hamlet/Hammy the kitten.

Review: A courtroom drama of a girl who is throughlly professional and ambitious about fighting difficult cases. So she take a case of cade who is her ex- boyfriend 9 years back in graduation time, who was getting sued for accident happened in bar.
Although the timelines used by author is bit confusing or she didn't check it latter, and story is making it difficult yo understand, characters were awesome, even supporting ones too.
There are lots of awkwardness in between Fracesca and cade . The whole truth is not yet out it opened but he told her what happened 5 years ago and after this case she wanted to open her firm after her first case make it difficult to connect, with plot because of that as she is being satisfy herself to be her own boss

Story of a boy who is drunkard want to change after meeting a girl who is his lawyer and his ex-gf , how the problem they face and come out ok as end is well, as in the end she open her own firm for lawyers office ....

I loved this book! I am anxious for more! The story is real, not happily ever after. Both have baggage in the relationship and they are by no means perfect. There were parts that made me think of myself and really hit home. Felicia is such a great writer and can really make you see a book like a movie in your head and make you feel what the characters feel. You definitely have to read this book and her others as well!

Mangled Hearts: Francesca and Cade (Scarred Hearts #1) is a 2014 publication. I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The first few chapters of this book had me thinking this was another New Adult novel with immature characters, crying at the drop of a hat over an old high school romance. Well, keep reading because that is not the case at all.

Yes, Cade and Francesca were friends in high school. Cade could see Francesca was a really pretty girl but she had no confidence in herself and was the target of some cruel classmates from time to time due to her introverted ways. Cade was the 'bad boy' through and through and he never represented himself in any other way although Francesca saw the potential in him. Cade made sure he kept the relationship on a friendship level because he knew Francesca deserved better than him.
Just when it looked like the relationship might change, a horrific turn of events separated them for nearly a decade.
Through the years, Francesca has become a lawyer and is trying to take on some cases of her own with a little substance. Cade hasn't changed much at all. In fact, he is just plain unimpressive. He is in trouble again and his father has arranged for an attorney to help him out. Yes, Francesca is given his case. For the first time in many years the two will face each other.

Cade has a very serious problem with alcohol since his high school days. This is why he can't hold a job and is always in trouble. His change encounter with Francesca opens up old wounds for both of them, but it also brings their feelings for one another back to the surface again. But, it doesn't matter how much they care for each other if Cade can't get a grip on his problem and get some help.

So, the subject matter in this book is a serious one. The author does a good job of addressing this issue without the story becoming maudlin or preachy or a story of harrowing withdrawals. Instead the story focuses on the power of love and commitment and the amazing effect knowing you are loved can do for a person. Cade finally owns up to his drinking problem and with a chance with Francesca motivating him he starts to pull himself together. Cade makes this decision alone, goes into rehab without being nagged death and makes this difficult journey in order to be the man Francesca deserves. The book leaves us on high note, but there is more to this story coming in the next installment.
Overall not a bad effort considering the subject matter. Some plot points were a little far fetched when it came to Francesca blaming Cade for something that happened in the past. I think a full report would have cleared up that misunderstanding, but still Cade does deserve some of the blame. Other than that one little complaint I thought the author did a great job with this one. 3.5 rounded to 4.

This was a absolutely delightful read, that took me on quite an emotional ride which I am yet to recover from. When I first read the blurb I knew this was going to be an emotional read and it did not disappoint. I actually got more than I bargained for.

This is not your typical fairy tale romance that would give that all over good feeling. This is a story that will tug at your heartstrings and will stay with you for quite awhile. It brought out an array of emotions. It made me laugh, it made cry, it made me frustrated and it made me angry.

Mangled Hearts was told from the POV of Cade and Francesca which allowed me to have a better understanding of what they were feeling and thinking. It made me better able to relate to them.

Character development was great. The characters were quite realistic and it was like watching them from the sidelines. They were not without their flaws and so this made a lot easier to relate to them.
Cade is not your typical romantic hero. He is an alcoholic who believed that the solution to all his problems could be found in a bottle. Francesca had been a loner in high school until the day Cade walked in her life. She was the complete opposite of Cade and she was the only person that could reach his lonely heart. She is a strong an independent woman who was not afraid to express how she really felt.
These two had a connection that was undeniable. Cade, however was not mature enough to deal with his feelings. I was upset with the way he treated her at times. In-spite of this she never stopped loving him.

It was great to finally see Cade acknowledging that he had a problem and was willing to take the steps needed to deal with his situation.
My only issue is that it was not clear as to what led Cade down this road of destruction and why he and his dad do not have a good relationship. This however this did not make the story any less enjoyable.
This story shows that love has the power to heal if we will allow it to. It also depicts that the first step to healing is acknowledging that we do have a problem and try to get help.
This is a must read for persons who enjoy a good romance story.
