I liked this book. I'm just not sure how well it ties into the rest of the series. Denise is rarely mentioned before (only in Something So Irresistible) and they really aren't ever mentioned in the other books that deal with the same families. Other than that, it was a great book.

Jake and Denise have a really sweet story and I love that it has a happy ending for more than just them. Some scenes were sad and some of the subject matter (cancer) is really sad and hard to deal with, especially if you know someone who was/is affected by it.

I did like the 2 of them together though and I think the book was really good. I always enjoy a series where there are good characters throughout.

Zack

Finding my teammate in bed with my wife made the decision I had been fighting with for years easier.

It’s time to move on.

A fresh start and a new NHL team in a big city. Most importantly, it’s my son Jack’s best shot.

It would be both of our best shots.

Denise

After a bad childhood, I made sure I would succeed.

The problem is I die a little with each patient I lose. It’s part of my career at Hudson Children’s Oncology Hospital, but it doesn’t make the sting of loss any easier.

Seeking anything other than a life saved isn’t on my agenda until a NHL player walks into my hospital with his son.

We’re officially off script the moment we meet.

If this love is anything, it’s unscripted.

THIS WAS MY FAVORITE!!!! I loved this book above all the other books in the series. I really didn't think I could love a character more than Zack but I loved him. He had such a gentleness to him and seeing all the other characters was such an inspiring thing to throw in. So many times authors throw them in for filler but Natasha didn't do that here. Denise's character deserved to have a man like Zack and he met all of her expectations and then blew them away!! He was so good with her, the way he handled Jack and the love he showed him was amazing. It never ceases to amaze me how much I love kids in books and in real life, I'm like...WHAT??! Jack...Oh, Jack...That epilogue though got me with all the feels!! That's all I'm gonna say on that. It was just a heartwarming, feel-good story in the end and I loved that I got to read to this!

Single dad romances are one of my favorite subgenres. What is cuter than a handsome man who will do anything for his children? Amiright? Ovary exploding reading. However Natasha Madison takes the well loved trope and adds so much more to it. Her story creates a wonderful and loving tale about finding love expectedly interwoven with the side of the story that parents undertake for their children.

First and foremost, this is a romance with a lovely HEA. The epilogue is bliss, and will delight the reader with the final sentence. How this romance struck me was the development of Denise and Zack's relationship. No need for any added relationshipy drama. They already had their emotional hands full in dealing with Jack's needs. What was lovely to see is two adults handling this attraction, running with it, because damnit, they deserve happiness too.

Something So Unscripted is a book not to be missed. As much as I loathe series jumpers, you could read as a standalone. But why!!!! Pick up the series and read them all! Are you already a fan? Add to your TBR and read it on release day :D
