Solid character development and the conflict, while kind of contrived, resolved in a realistic way.

3.5 rounded up.

I enjoyed this brother's best friend, dual POV, slow burn, roommates interracial romance. Full of Mia Sosa's trademark humor and spice, this one kept me entertained from start to finish as aspiring singer Ashley tries to get Julia, her longtime crush and a Hollywood agent to give them a chance despite the fact that he's her brother's best friend. Good on audio narrated by Erin Mallon and Sean Crisden.

After previously reading One Night with the CEO by this author, I decided to try this title after promoting it. Again, this book is the second novel of a series and a standalone.

Julian Hart and Ashley Williamson make an attractive couple, but circumstances have meant they've only managed to secretly admire each other from a distance. Thankfully, they manipulate a situation to overcome their issues to pursue a relationship.

Pretending He's Mine is a sexy romance where both protagonists have to learn to live their lives and follow their own dreams to suit themselves and stop living in the shadow of others.

Overall an enjoyable read. There was a point in the middle where the pace is a bit sluggish, but after it picked up again the ending is satisfying.

I am always up for a book with a plot that involves a younger sister and her brother's best friend. Throw in a fake relationship, and sign me up!

I really liked all the characters involved. Julian and Ashley were well-developed characters and you could definitely feel their chemistry! The plot was good, as well.

Overall, this was a success for me. I haven't read the first book in this series, but I will be going back to check it out!

I always read these “pretending to be in a relationship” tropes and I always love them. I’m predictable like that.
