Really wanted to enjoy this book but just couldn’t get on board with Opal as a character - she’s so so sooooo hard on herself in the beginning, and then her “new me” transformation seems to happen with a lil snap of her quirky fingers. also buying land (a farm!) without ever seeing it and no plan on how you’ll run it is just… I can’t. Sorry M.E., I really tried! And thank you for writing a queer love story that I’m sure many many people will need and enjoy. 💗

I absolutely loved this book! It was such a fun cozy sapphic romance. There is a great representation of neurodiversity that really displays how one’s thoughts can be sometimes. And the very accurate representation of grief was beautifully done that had me crying with Pepper ❤️

This is a sweet romance between two women who don't expect to fall into each other's paths. Opal buys a flower farm and finds that Pepper is under the impression that she still owns the farm herself since her grandmother passed away. While this grumpy/sunshine duo are falling for each other, we learn about Pepper's experience with autism and the way that Opal begins to care for Pepper. I, as a non-autistic person, found this representation to be great! There wasn't a lot of defining what autism is, which I've read in some books, but rather defining how autism functioned within Pepper's life. Opal has her own experiences with mental health, such as being a massive people pleaser (her words). Throughout the novel, she learns to ease up on pleasing others and find her own joys in life. Though she's not perfect, and I wouldn't expect her to be!
The mental health rep in this book was spot on from my perspective. I enjoyed reading a book with asides told in parentheses; this book was written the way that I write captions/summaries/etc. with words to the reader weaved throughout.
