The foul language is too much!  They cuss around the baby from the beginning of the book.  It’s completely unnecessary!  None of the characters were likeable.  The storyline drags.  I was having to force myself to read it.  Just a no from me

The characters are beautifully realised and I felt like I could understand each of their perspectives. Close to perfect

bees don’t like when you do gymnastics on they’s heads.

This book was so messy from the start y'all!! I'm not gonna lie, the ending did kinda throwed me off but i do feel like it needed to end that way. Yes this book is by a black author for those who wanted to know. It's about a Black babysitter who watches a rich white wife kids and she gets accused of kidnapping her children. That's all I'm gonna say about the book because there's a lot more to that book.

This book was thought-provoking. I could not put it down. Reid’s characters are fantastic and really drive the theme of the novel. Emira and Briar really suck you into the story, and Alix is masterfully written as the poster child of white feminism. I would recommend this book to anyone, really, as Reid’s writing is wonderful and insightful.

i did really like this book especially as a 26 year old nanny lmao
good read, entertaining and informative, relatable. I love how she is able to make both characters relatable even if it’s not something that is conventionally an okay thing to do, the reader is able to see the thought processes, which i did like.

the author’s explicit obsession with skinniness sucks and was a surprisingly persistent fetish throughout the book from both perspectives

the way it’s written is very honest which i really enjoyed, the highs and lows aren’t super dramatic so i don’t recommend this if you want something super juicy, but it is a good story that points out some truly shitty behaviors. that’s all it really has to be & i really like that.

insane that him using the n word wasn’t an immediate red flag, she could have saved herself so much grief lmao. a friend of mine who read this too pointed out that this book reads like a romantic novel but doesn’t end as one, and i love that.

This book has a slow start but once you are in you're in! I did not want to put it down. I think the way racism is handled in this book is so interesting and important, especially as it pertains to racism in white spaces that espouse themselves as liberal. Highly recommend!!

I really enjoyed this and it made me cry which I wasn’t expecting at all. I do have to say it’s not a full five stars because I felt the dialogue was a little odd and it didn’t flow. I did really like our main character and her relationship with the child she babysat(she was probably one of my favorite parts of the book). I think the topics about white feminism and fetishization was really well done. I also enjoyed her friend group and how they were all there for each other. Most of the characters in this are so annoying but that’s the point. I also didn’t really like the ending, but it makes sense for the character.
