This was easily one of my most anticipated releases of 2024. I've become a huge fan of Gardner's over the last couple of years and was eagerly awaiting her newest release in this series (this is book three of her Frankie Elkin series). Happily enough, this book met all of my (sky high) expectations and I enjoyed it immensely. One of the things that I enjoyed most about this book was the unique setting. I'm a sucker for a good mystery set on a remote island which is exactly the setting for this book. But the island or atoll (what it is actually called) where the book is set and the descriptions had me entranced. Then you add in the mystery of this young girl believed to be the sister of a female serial killer, secrets, lies, and the dangerous remote island environment setting - and there was no turning back for me. I was well and truly hooked. Like reading as fast as I could, unable to set the book down kind of hooked. It was just so good! It's going to be a long wait until the next book in this series releases but I already know it will be completely worth the wait. 

Readers who enjoy mysteries, fans of Joanna Schaffhausen's Ellery Hathaway series, and those just looking for suspenseful reads to get lost in need to pick this series up. I strongly suggest reading them in order for maximum enjoyment but you could start here if you really wanted to. The first book is Before She Disappeared. This is a series and author that I highly, highly recommend. An easy five stars!
