What we have here is a classic case of angel boy meets demon girl and chaos ensues in the best way!
If you love it when there is a tortured hero who gives in to his most base desires, then go ahead and add this one to the list.
I loved Dani as the main FMC. She is strong and fierce and takes no shit but she's also level-headed and smart in her decision-making (well, to a degree - everyone has a breaking point)! She has also been groomed by the demon queen of sorts to be vicious and ruthless.
Nick is her counterpart, a rule follower, and never one to go against the grain. When they are forced to team up to solve a mysterious case, neither can deny fiery sparks between them.
Elise was my favorite character outside of Nick and Dani. I just love how she tortured everyone around her. Big mood.
Spice on this one is 🌶🌶.5/5 and can't wait to dive into the next book!

Dani is a fiery demon with a penchant for violence and Nick is a loyal angel with a strong moral compass. Thrown together with their closest allies, they have a mystery to unravel that could put their worlds and those within them at risk.
This book was a whirlwind. It starts out slow on character development - I was about 100 pages in and the characters were still two-dimensional, not really popping off the page just yet. But the book takes a dramatic turn and grows with a flourish over the entirety of the rest of the story. Once the reader gets to know the characters more, it was hard not to stay up reading all night long to know what would happen with them next. I really liked the archetypes created and was able to find a connection with each main character. The storyline was incredibly captivating and the mystery and excitement built in such a suspenseful way!
The spice and romance in the book was balanced so well with the plot! I tend to skim spice if I am not invested in the plot line and the characters, yet I ate up every second of the spicy chapters! I tabbed the book as I read so I have all the best scenes marked to share with my fiancé lol
Overall, I am really impressed by this debut from the author and with the second book in the series being released tomorrow - now’s the time to jump in while the pan is HOT!

Allie Shante’s debut book was fantastic!
The world building in this was great, and you could really picture everywhere they were going and how things work.
The character building was great as well but also there is a lot of mystery surrounding most of the characters.
I absolutely loved the main characters.
Dani: she takes no crap and mostly lets everyone’s feelings about her roll of her back. There’s a huge mystery about how she became a demon in Purgatory.
Nick: the good boy with a hero complex. You love him right form the get go, but he does make some stupid decisions.
Reese: hilariously annoying and cute but has a huge bias against demons that leaves you frustrated. He’s by Nick’s side for all of his decisions, even when he doesn’t agree.
Elise: a psycho with a soft spot for Dani, though she works hard to hide that. She is a major instigator and pot stirrer. Her and Reese will have you laughing at their somewhat hateful banter.
There’s a ton of twists and turns, I had several theories that were all basically wrong. You’ll think you know what most of the mysteries are but Allie Shante will surprise you.
This book is mostly plot, put there are a few very hot and spicy moments!
The cliff hanger isn’t awful, but you will still be left with a few mysteries.
