I enjoyed this, mostly. I picked it up because I always enjoy this narrator and I was curious when I realized it was essentially an A/B/O story, which I’ve never encountered outside of fanfic. It’s not a trope that I’ve ever particularly gravitated towards (mostly because of its prevalence in mlm slash fic) but I thought I’d give this one a go. I’ll admit, my only experience with the trope is with stories actually featuring werewolves, and I was surprised when that wasn’t the case here. I didn’t really connect with either main character quite enough, and I found their dynamic a little lacking. They just seemed to be attracted to each other because of the trope, mostly. That said, it held my attention, the narration was as wonderful as always, and it was a perfectly fine time. I think it just left me wanting a little more on both character and plot fronts.

Interesting story and plot line, with a few holes. Also this was pretty much all telling and no showing. Missed a lot of depth unfortunately. 2.5 rounded up.

Sorry if things are a bit confusing, but I was all over the place whilst writing this review.

I finally decided to dip my toes in the omegaverse waters. And I liked it, at least I liked what I've read on this book, by Lexa.

I really liked both MCs, I think they are very likeable with a phenomenal chemistry and not to root for them tells a lot about someone's ill character LOL, jk. The secondary characters I think almost everyone was quite cool and I wish we had more time with them (like Aghata), so I'm pretty satisfied character's-wise.

The plot got me a bit uneasy when reading the blurb, but I trusted the description. The storytelling and pace were sort of sneaky bitches [in a good way], I mean I didn't see the time fly. It didn't feel AT ALL like over 300 pages, if Amazon is to be trusted, with the end coming too soon. I loved that even though there is some sort of undercurrent tension, there was no duplo twist carpado of drama. So the reading was divided between acclimating and/or getting pissed with some aspects of the universe/characters or enjoying things and turning the fan on because boy, it was steamy, oooooooof.

I'll confess that like some people, while reading about the omegaverse, I was a bit reticent and part of it was the whole ABO dynamics that seems to be quite "restrictive, set in stone" about roles and such and the other part G!P; then I stopped and asked myself why, because overall I really don't mind most stuff on books as long as the writer does justice to story/characters. So I went for it and was very pleased with what I got.

The only thing that still kinda got me on edge were the (alpha) males, too much macho crap for my personal taste (I know, I know, the double standard much) BUT not enough to drive me away. No, for real, I was almost baring my own teeth every time one was on scene, lmao, if y'all depended on me, men would barely exist in any sapphic[f/f] book ever haha.

But to be fair, I think my issue is more related to the medieval vibe that I'm not usually a fan because it kinda asks for these dynamics with men at the top of the food chain and I've a problem with this. Yeah, yeah, therapy much? So yes I got why things were how they were and the deliver was very satisfying.

Mind you, the sexual bit was enlightening, quite educational, I mean I wasn't sure I'd like the dynamic because I'm not used to it (YET) but if things are done like Lexa did here, I don't see why I won't like it, I know I did for this one and hopefully this will be the same with Dancing in the Darkness. In this case I'm buying the rest of Lexa's work, you know, for research purposes, as a scientist I need a larger sample to properly conclude if I like something or not. SCIENCE hahah

If you're seeing this because you know me... don't ask. Just. Don't.

And dad, I know you look at my reviews... don't Google "Omegaverse" either. Just. Don't.

I've been alone in this apartment with zero human interaction 96% of my time since February and, yeah, this is where I'm at.

This really was something else, not what I expected at all.
Not sure this is the vibe for me, but very steamy.
The writing was not as great, but it is a stand-alone, so I expect the writing gets better as you delve deeper.

4 stars. I’ve read quite a few F/F Omegaverse fanfiction (though they are super rare) but never one that was like this. This was so unique and new and I enjoyed it immensely. I binge read this in a few hours because it had me absolutely hooked.

I will admit though that the beginning half was really hard to get into because of all of the world building and there was a lot of info dump. But once the story gets started and finds its groove, it was really damn good. I loved the characters. Aubrey starts this story so broken and damaged. So much so that her Alpha has gone into hiding. Kinsey is a spirited and kind Omega who is set to be Queen. The chemistry between them was fantastic and electric. They both went through really great development and that ending was absolutely perfect for them.

The writing was really good and I will definitely be checking more books by this author because this was a really good read.
