No começo o vai e volta que ela faz entre os personagens pode deixar o leitor meio desorientado. Eu gosto de fazer uma listinha dos personagens num papelzinho e anotar palavras-chaves para ir lembrando deles, principalmente quando são nomes de origem que não estou habituada a ler. Mas a autora criou personagens com personalidades bem marcadas, logo não precisei mais da minha "cola" pois a leitura fluiu muito bem. Passado esse estranhamento inicial percebi que a autora conta a história de um lugar e das pessoas que nele vivem, por isso acho que as sinopses desse livro são bem falhas. Em geral as sinopses dizem que o livro é sobre a vida de 3 irmãs e também é, mas trata muito dos outros personagens com os quais elas se relacionam também, volta no tempo contando a origem dessas pessoas e do seu vilarejo. Sendo assim, eu diria que é a história de um povo de uma determinada região de Omã, contada a partir de 3 irmãs. Gostei do livro, li para o Clube de Leitura do Podcast 30:Min, foi o livro de agosto/2024. Gosto da ideia de prestigiar autores de países com pouca visibilidade na literatura mundial e que estão sendo traduzidos diretamente para o português.
I have not read the original text, but I would say hats off to the translator, especially with the proverbs and the old verses of poetry. I discovered a lot of Omani history, atrocities and abuse. The flashbacks were not helpful at times, and at others the stories are missing the key.

This book is like a mosaic of broken glass pieces that don't fit together, leaving a disjointed but beautiful picture. The author is a poet, but nothing happens. The plot doesn't go anywhere, which was disappointing (something exciting happens on p. 202-204, and that's it).
