This was a beautifully, gothic fantasy about fairies and women, objective truth and myths, and a seemingly haunted manor with a deep, dark secret.

The perfect book to pick up during a stormy fall weekend with a gripping storyline, sprinkled with academic mystery and a touch of romance.

I loved how well-constructed the characters were and how vivid the ambience was. This story and its characters were almost palpable.

Really enjoyed this book and its ambience, and fell in love with the author’s gorgeous style of writing. It was both addictive, detailed and poetic! Will keep reading her past and future works.

A surprising read, with a strange yet very well built world. It had me always expecting the worse, trying to figure what would come next but being gradually more surprised after each chapter. It was a very enjoyable read!

The negative part of the book will have to be the writing though, that  sometimes felt too cliché, or too « Wattpad »-like.

This book is so good!! I really enjoyed it and read it in a few days. It was beautifully written snd I loved the academic background as well as all the fae elements. This is a book that masterfully talks about misogyny, SA and mental health in a sensitive way. I also liked how the protagonist was very aware of herself when the romance bits were cliche. Definitely check trigger warnings, as SA and PTSD is a topic that features throughout the book. As someone who lives in Wales, the use of some of the Welsh words seemed a bit random to me, especially as the book is set in some unnamed world.

I thought it was kind of onvious that his wife had written Angharad from early on in the novel so it frystrated me a little that it took them so long to come to that conclusion.

But overall a good fantasy dark-academia read!

4- stars ✨
Female rage unraveled in an intense storytelling about injustices, women's voices brutally silenced, distorted, taken advantage of and greedy men abusing their power.
Rich atmospheres and a wild nature that reminded me of that in Wuthering Heights, beautiful prose, a story of overcoming hurt, trauma, grief, the impossible, the disbelief of people.
A story of resilience that feels like the first sun beam after a brutal storm.
Thank you Angharad and Effy.
