The only reason I gave this collection 3 stars is the excellent short story 'A Fugitive Green'. Loved Minnie and Hal. The rest was pretty boring and shows that Gabaldon is really best at writing massive novels -with shorter pieces she simply doesn't know what to cut out and what to keep.

This book took forever to read. Some of the stories are just not my thing, which was surprising to me since I’ve enjoyed the Outlander series. What I will say is that I would rather Diana write an entire side series about Minnie rather than Lord John. Minnie is complex and makes interesting choices. Diana’s female characters are always so much more dynamic than her male characters.

I’m happy to have read these stories from the Outlander universe. Short stories just aren’t really my jam, so I prefer the novels. My fave story was the one about Roger’s parents.

Unas me gustaron más que otras, al parecer tengo que leer las demás novelas de LJG para entender estas.

La amistad de Ian y Jamie es de lo mejor que me pudo pasar

I'm in the minority here with DG and Outlander fans, but I thought this book was merely okay - not worth the $18, that's for sure. I don't do ebooks, so getting the physical book was the only way to read it, and in the lull while we're waiting for the 9th book, I thought I'd enjoy it as I did her other books. If you're a Lord John fan, you'll probably love this, but as another reviewer said, every story seems to be the same - he gets some military posting, engages in some fighting, mentally lusts after Jamie and has some sort of liaison with a hot young guy. I'm kind of bored by Lord John anyway, and his stories were half the book. The young Jamie and Ian were fine, but I started scanning halfway in. I thought the Comte St. Germain was surprisingly boring as a main character - nothing like the original story in Dragonfly in Amber. I did really like the Jerry Mackenzie story - it was too brief and left some things unanswered, though, but that was the only story where I wanted more.

Overall, I feel meh about this book. There's so much to read out there - I'd read something else and keep waiting for book 9.
