This wasn't a bad listen while at work. I couldnt stand the male main character. Why does every ghost story have the male gaslighting the female? They made every mistake you could make in a horror story. The actual ghost story part was good but a little confusing.

I ended up not finishing this book as I got a decent way through and just couldn't get into it. I didn't really care for the main characters, and I feel like it made the mistake of laying on the scares so thick I got desensitised early on and just felt annoyed at the characters for staying in the location. The characters made really stupid decisions and I couldn't sympathise with them at all, and I found the scares and set-ups to be a bit cliché.

A solid entertaining ghost story. Parts were a bit creepy, and all’s well that ends well.

It's alright. A short book that quickly gets to the supernatural horror part and doesn't meander. It's pretty much what the summary says. Might be made into a movie one day.

This was one of my favorites so far by this author. It's not his scariest, but it felt like a breakaway from the tropes that he usually sticks to. And the things I was thinking while reading it,
Spoilerlike that they should feel sorry for the witch instead of wanting to destroy her
, the characters actually acted on as well.

Excellent and Creepy Ghost Story

Wow!!!! What a great read. The story hit all the right notes and is really creepy. The authors use of language is astounding. His lyrical prose and description of the event taking place serve to truly transport the reader into the shoes of the protagonist. This is my first book by him that I have actually read. I have been a fan of his audiobooks for a while now. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys good atmospheric horror.

I read this book while listening to a horror movie soundtrack, suffice to say that was the best part of this reading experience.

There was a lot of back and forth, a lot of mud, and a lot of thinking, but there was even more searching. There were many soggy times in this book but they were worth it. I can easily see this ending up with a sequel or staying as-is.
This story has three major things going on - the purpose of the trip, the why!? You'll see; the date they happen to pick and all that it entails; and what, oh what the heck, are they gonna do with the hot mess they have gotten themselves into? Will they make it as a couple ? Or will they go it alone? Is their strength together or apart? We will see if they stay smart enough to solve the rifts from another time, the mystery of the village ruins, and the memories infecting the land; then figure it out and get the floop out! Yeah. Get ready for some creepy stuff.
