evil book. gross and gratuitous with pedophilic mindset. unnecessary homophobia. written like a fanfic at certain points and Rebus is obviously an author self-insert. most of my annotations were edits.

I get that its supposed to be gritty and noir, but the sexism, fat shaming and men-writing-women depiction of the women in this book are not it. Also the way the main character describes ogling his eleven y/o daughter is disgusting.

Absolutely no detective work going on in the first half of the book, but the main character sleeps with two women and describes them in really gross ways, then

He has a nervous breakdown WHILE he’s sleeping with a woman because of how much stress he’s under at work? We haven’t been shown ANY work he’s done???
