Persistence, younglings.

Actually, I probably shouldn't be saying that, because I'm not the oldest person in the world so there are probably people who are older than me.

Not that most of you would know who you are. You can guess, but you will never know for certain. *mysteriousface*

Anyway. I liked Skeleton Key. Although, you skelephobes, there are no skeletons involved. Except for the one that existed when Skeleton Key was discovered, and they must have gotten rid of that one a long time ago. Oh, and one other one. The one inside you.

HAHAHAHAHA THE LOOK ON YOUR FACE

Just kidding, you know you don't have a live video feed watching your every move. But you know, you have this really annoying habit of shading your eyes when you're outside, so I don't get the full experience of stalking you.

Somehow I can't stay on topic. Well.

Skeleton Key was good, and it's the book where everything you've learned to expect from the Alex Rider books' general plot direction will be pulled out from under you. (Not saying that the AR books have a plot like a rug. Not at all.) Sure, there will be action. Sure, there will be cool gadgets. Sure, there will be evil-as-your-run-of-the-mill-person-who-wants-to-blow-up-the-world guys. But they won't want to blow up the world for the heck of it. This time, there will be cash and silver scorpions and amazing boat chases and amazing bicycle chases and amazing car chases and an occasional hot air balloon encounter, not to mention a killer ninja school (I swear I didn't steal his idea--I came up with it before I even knew Horowitz existed [okay, fine, more like before I even read one of his books]--as many a friend can attest to) and the partial destruction of a very nice plane.

So yes. Skeleton Key is where Alex gets tired.

This used to be my favorite in the series because I loved how many different settings it's in—Wimbledon, United States, Cuba, Russia—each with action and connections. Reading it now, the blatant anti-communist propaganda in this is pretty wild. I definitely didn't pick up on it when I was younger.

The first two books are so easy to remember. Stormbreaker? Alex goes undercover to find out about the computers. Point Blanc? Alex goes undercover at the academy to find out what's going on.

But this one?
-Alex goes to wimbledon
-Alex goes on holiday
-Alex teams up with the CIA
-Alex goes to Cuba

THAT'S NOT A BAD THING. But every time I try to remember what happens in this book I get confused because Alex is going all over the place!!
