Overall, a very good example of modern noir. The motivations of some of the characters could have used a bit more elaboration, particularly Lou, as her particular motivations for how she treated Jo near the end of the book were confusing and seemingly contradictory . However, the main character limit was compelling and dynamic, and the tone fit well within the noir genre. A strong start for an author with a lot of potential.
