Pre-warning for this book: it opened up a lot of trauma for me, which I was expecting but it was difficult to read some parts all the same.

That being said, the romance plot was pretty good and I still found myself smiling through the latter half of the book.

I’m not sure if events *had* to go the way they did, but all in all it was a fun read.

I haven't read a lot of contemporary fiction that isn't Weird lately, but this reminded me why I do love it. I had so many feelings, I walked sobbing through a grocery store while listening to this and gained a new author with quite the backlog I can't wait to get through. Also don't be fooled by the cutesy romance cover, because although there is romance in this book it's not a romance novel by any means.

This book had me laughing aloud, snapping my fingers in agreement, audibly gasping, and highlighting or underlining takeaway quotes. I went into this with an idea of what to expect, and was pleasantly surprised this book had much deeper themes to it than what can be assumed at first glance. Justin was my favorite character, I could always count on him for a laugh. I loved Eve's character development and
her standing up for herself when the moment she dreamed of finally happened - Ed saying he loved her - and instead of reciprocating, she called him out on his behavior!!
thought this book was a good balance of humor alongside grief, and vice versa. I knocked it .50 cause I felt the references to different movies and pop culture were too much at times and didn't make sense since no one was a media critic or in the media world for that matter to know all those things, and the last 50 pages felt rushed yet the ending was drawn out, if that makes sense. Otherwise, I think this book is a keeper and would read again or recommend.

I loved this book, I loved the dialogue and the pacing. I just loved it.

Did I read this SPECIFICALLY because Emily Henry gave it a 5-star review on Goodreads? Yes. Yes, I absolutely did.

Things that I didn’t love about this book:
The beginning was really slow, so it took me a while to get hooked. I very nearly gave up.

Things I enjoyed:
This is not a cheesy rom-com book. This book has some depth to it. I also really appreciated that it wasn’t predictable. It *really* did not play out like I had originally anticipated.

All that having been said- Death/loss is a major plot point in this story. Major plot point. So much more than any romantic relationship. If I were to recommend this to anyone, it would be with a huge caveat. Unexpectedly losing someone in their thirties can, unfortunately, hit too close to home for many of us.

This one was very different from the other books I’ve read from this author. I had a much harder time getting into it than the others, but it was still enjoyable.
