Disclaimer: I received an e-copy in exchange for an honest review.

This story is the second in a series that started fantastically and just keeps coming. This time, Miranda Harel has stepped up from being a side/secondary character to being the main focus, but all the while we still hear about the other major players from "The Smartest Girl in the Room": Emily, Mitch, Zainab, Richard, etc. Their stories continue in the background, right where we left off before, and we learn more and more about all of them and their connections to one another as the story progresses.

I absolutely love that Miranda is the main focus this time; I was incredibly interested in hearing more about her while reading the first installment, and my wish was granted! We delve into her life of living with Alex, her guardian whom she's madly in love with, and dealing with Michael, the black sheep who just keeps terrorizing everybody. Her story is wonderful, exciting and heartbreaking, all at the same time. I couldn't wait to read what had actually happened throughout her life and what the true relationships with those around her are. I kept guessing, trying to figure it out, but each time I thought I had it, the next page proved me wrong, and I loved that! It kept me intrigued and flipping page after page until the truth hit me like a ton of bricks. This is definitely a must-read, especially if you read the first one. If you didn't, what's stopping you??

5 stars =)

(Side note: I was provided with a copy that had the cast of characters in the beginning. BIG help, as it'd been a while since I read TSGitR. Also, just a handy thing to have around!)
