wow. this certainly isn't for everyone, as it is fairly scattered and incoherent, but I found it incredibly compelling. my first instinct after reading was to google if the author is still alive (which should hint at how rough this book can get) and then I grinned to see that he was. anyone who has experienced the world in this way and chooses to keep living gives me hope. I also love the art itself and some of the stylistic choices like the mixed media, crosshatching, unique page numbers, and rainbow pages. I am sure even just cutting out and writing the text on those colored strips of paper took quite a while. I also like that I can squint at a page for a while and notice different things. the binding was completely detached from the pages when I bought my copy from half price books, which I feel like adds even another fitting layer to it all. basically, I lawvfed it.

3.5 *s. I had no idea what was going on half the time while reading this (probably the point), but the illustrations are phenomenal!

I don't even know where to start or what to rate this - I really think that this book loses something by being read digitally - it feels like the only way to read and truly appreciate this book, which is really not a comic or graphic novel but more of an art book, would be to flip through Reklaw's actual sketchbook while he was hovering somewhere nearby. It took me a really long time to get through this one, and while I don't think I would read it again or recommend it as a graphic novel, the art is often quite lovely and extremely layered - I would love to see a page of this being made!
