Sade Louise's debut novel exhibits a brilliantly spun story -- a mix of Supernatural, Lucifer, and X-Men. But while the premise and mystery keeps your interest piqued, and Lousie's writing conjures up great imagery, the lack of cleanliness that comes with indie publication is noticeable. The pacing, some punctuation plights, arrangement of the story (ie the first chapter being cut by 9 chapters in between until we get back to that moment), and some dialogue might have used some polishing. And while some reactions characters had after ley discounted may have been warranted, I did not feel a deep enough attachment to feel the pain as I possible could have been with more prior development. However! This does not discount the book Louise wrote that I consumed in two days. Ripe with clearly thought-out, deep lore, rich diversity, and great character relationships, I cannot wait for when the next in the series is released!

I received an arc from the author in exchange for an honest review.

One word: demons. I cannot rave enough about how good Blood of the Lotus is. It drew me in from the start with its captivating story, infuriating rules (by one father), and great group of characters. I loved everything, everything drew me in from the start.

I really felt for Nova and I truly saw that she had no other choice except what she thought would get her free: a deal with a demon. Now if you pay attention to other media, not generally the smartest idea, but I love the way the author blurs the lines begin good and evil, and shows maybe something inherently evil isn't so bad after all.

I also connected a lot with the characters. They were powerful but didn't seem to overpowered and they were flawed without it being detrimental. I loved them. I also loved the swoon worthy Luka. He has my heart.

But can we talk about how much I hate Nova's dad?! I have a strong hatred for him and I hope we don't see a redemption arc.

The action was easy to follow and kept the plot moving. It kept things intriguing. The only part that irritated me was Nova's antagonizing fighting style with her yawning while fighting - it just got on my nerves that she underestimated her enemy so much that she feigned disinterest. That's never got me in books so just a minor detail I disliked.

I loved the plot. It was so interesting, unique and kept me guessing from the start. I had no idea where it was going to go, and I am ao happy with the direction it went in.

Definitely check this one out! I highly recommend it! I keep thinking about BOTL after I've finished - might need to give it another read!

The author kindly sent me this book in exchange for an honest review.

As soon as I started this book I felt it would be a classic YA book. It has elements one can find across other series BUT Blood of the Lotus never failed to amaze me. The concept's quite interesting and I felt like this book was impossible to put away.

I couldn't predict many of the things that happen in this book and that was amazing! (I usually discover the plot quite early, but it wasn't the case). On the other hand, I felt like something the author drag things too much. Sometimes less is more, and we don't need the main character repeating their desire and ambitions, we already know those! Also, it throws me off that some characters narrate chapters almost randomly. Giving them all their individual chapters or using the third person would be way easier.

The mythical elements and the fact that this is an action-pack book make it quite unique and interesting. I loooooove the side characters (way more that the main, I might add), and I can't wait to found out more about this world.

To rise above, unblemished and pure, reborn in the daylight, a never-ending cycle of hope. To fall below, backend and blue, captive in the night, a never-ending cycle of despair. "To what end?" we call. and she answers. "Till whatever end."

OMG!
Personally I am a huge fan of Angels v. Demons.
And this gives me all of it!

MFC is a boss! Unknown/forbidden love interest. Missing history/past lives. Cryptic mission.
Enemies coming together and learning and loving together.

Nova is this trapped “princess” who ends up with way more than she bargained for when she breaks out of her fathers home. Aligning with the enemy and finding out things about her past and her destiny while having 2 angels in her head and training demon spawn.
I already can’t wait for the next one in the Undivided series!!

I went into this book fairly blind. My first and last impressions were all positive, the cover was gorgeous the FMC was easy to relate to and love. I felt Nova's emotions are she struggled with being left in the dark and sheltered when all she wanted to do was be free. I was angry when she was angry and I love how the author was able to make me feel what Nova felt.

The characters in this book are so diverse and well developed and I love them all honestly. Lance and Meena are two of my favorites though.

It was a dun and easy read and I'm really looking forward to the next one!

First off id like to thank the lovely author for sending me an ARC in exchange for my honest review <3

I want to start this review off by saying, if youre looking for an action packed fantasy, strong fmc, easy to read, raises a lot, and I mean a LOT of questions. Then this book is for you. There are layers to this and its so entertaining.

Our story starts off with our heroine Nova, determined to prove to her father that shes good enough to be an Undivided (a demon hunter bonded to and given strength by an angel). The problem? He keeps her locked on their estate and wont answer any of her questions. So, like any other fantasy main character, she runs away to get these answers from,,,, very unlikely places.

This story starts off slow and unravels very well in my opinion, the writing is easy to read and the story line, despite how many questions are thrown in and unanswered, is quite easy to follow. I enjoyed not only the world building but Nova’s character building as well. We don’t get to see more than just the surface with some of the characters, but the small moments they’re given are enough(so far, i’m giving this the benefit of the doubt by telling myself we’ll get more of them in book two.) This book does a very good job at telling the story in a way that will not only frustrate the reader, but the main characters as well, which I personally loved. I loved knowing it was upsetting the characters as much as it was upsetting me.

There are multiple POV’s throughout the book. At first it felt a bit overwhelming, but after the first few I came to enjoy the insight and information we got about other characters and the lore of the world outside of our heroines perspective.

Onto the lovely, Nova. I often felt like some of the decisions she made were a bit childish, the more I thought this, the more I found myself rooting for her. I expected absolutely nothing less from a character thats never been allowed to make their own decisions. it also adds to the ~drama~ which is always a plus in my book.

Yes, theres a love interest too. The quiet, warm, Luka, while theres little romance theres plenty of chemistry! I cant wait to see how their story progresses.

With all of this being said, i’m very excited to see how this book does when its released, I’m excited to see where the story goes from here and how our lovely Nova will do with the weight of the world on her shoulders.

This is one of those times I wish Goodreads gave us the .25 .50 .75 ratings, because if I could, id rate it a 4.5.
