“....Fear wasn’t about what made sense. Fear was about possibilities. Not things that happened. Things that might.” [p. 455]

I must've sucked in the whole world's supply of oxygen by gasping at that ending. I'm emotionally drained.

[b:Fear|8811134|Fear (Gone, #5)|Michael Grant|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1309186708s/8811134.jpg|13685368] is the second-to-last book of the page turning series called '[b:Gone|2536134|Gone (Gone, #1)|Michael Grant|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1357796831s/2536134.jpg|2543657]'. I honestly don't know how Grant is going to wrap everything up in the last book. I feel like there's still too much still left unsolved.

In this book, we have previously important characters who fade out, or in Albert's case, run away, and smaller characters who step up. It was interesting watching characters like Caine and Astrid evolve personality-wise. I was indifferent and mildly irritated by Astrid throughout the series but her character development really amazed me. I feel like Fear plays the role of connecting the events that will lead to the concluding book, Light.

I absolutely adore Michael Grant's sense of humor. Here are some situations that made me snort:

"“She’s already trouble,” Caine said. “First Drake, now Penny. I’m surrounded by psychos and idiots.”
Turk looked hurt.
“One thing, Turk. You ever see me freaking out, like Penny is pulling something on me? You shoot the witch. We clear on that?”
“Absolutely,” Turk said. “Your Highness.”
“You get that you’re the idiot, right, Turk?”
“Um…”
Caine stormed off, muttering, “I miss Diana.”"

“Hey, what are you guys doing?” It was Brianna atop the bluff. “What’s with all the light? I thought we were being all—”
“Stay right there!” Dekka yelled.
“Okay, jeez, you don’t have to yell.”

“Sam said, “Listen, guys, you’ll hear about it soon enough: there’s something hinky going on with the barrier.”
“Kinky?”

“And you think Jesus wants you to do this? This? Threaten a pregnant girl with a rock? That’s your religious theory? Jesus wants you to help a sadistic mental case to turn me over to a monster? I must have missed that part of the Bible. Is that part of the Sermon on the Mount?”

We also get a perspective from the outside. It was interesting seeing how the families and adults outside coped with the 'Perdido Beach Anomaly'.

I'd talk about all the characters, but there are too many. Even though Michael Grant keeps adding more characters, it feels like each character, no matter their self-worth, has a unique role to play.

As a conclusion, I'd like to state that this book had me hooked every step of the way. It jumbled my emotions and affected my sleep pattern, but it was totally worth it. So eager to go and read the final book!!

I liked this, but I'm getting tired of the series altogether and will be glad when I'm done with it.

YAAAY I FINISH THIS BOOK!! I´m so happy, because now there is only one book left to finish the saga.
I liked too much this book, like the others but the things that happened here were weird, you know, but I think all these saga is weird, all the things that happened here are totally the most strange thing that you can think

I really like that finally Michael Grant show us the outside, and ever it was a little bit boring I knew that it was totally necessary because, since the first book we where waiting to know how the parents feel about the FAYZ .

I really love Diana and Caine, since the first book they where OTP, but even this were weird for them and the were separate the whole book I'm still loving them. The fact that Diana was pregnant surprise me at the last book, but here I feel that everything that was happening was strange!

But my favourite character could be Brianna, she is still the best even all the thing that happened with her. I was so sad that Brianna and Jack don't end together, THAT ISNT FAIR!! I really like Jack and I suffer too much with him! And finally I don't know what the hell happened with him!

So, we have now the couple from Astrid and Sam, I don't like them too much but I feel that they grew up since the first book and I appreciate that and I hope that in Light I can see them more concentrate in their lives, and they have to be less... lovely. But I think that they are not the same since the first book an this is important because now they are better

I want to talk about Dekka, she is a strange girl but I love her, she is different, she is not the typical character that you can read in a book.

Also Lana was a character that I've love at the others books, but I feel that she is not so cool, she is now different and more dark, but the way of dark that can be upset.

I love Quinn and Edilio (I don't know why I put them together but... whatever) they are characters that I've feel that they grew up, and that always a thing that I like.
So... 5/5 and 9/10

The ending was good however the rest of the book was very long winded. I found myself skimming through most of it. At times it felt like I was reading a script and it switched between characters so much that it got hard to follow the story most of the time. I think this book had great potential but the blurb was more exciting than the actual story.

I love the meta commentary about death in the FAYZ. In the earlier books, every death had an impact. Now, people are killed is only a few sentences, like it is normal.
