A touching story of a robot’s faith, and the testing of it.

This book is using many of the devices and questions of Never Let Me Go, but to me they are put to better use in Klara and the Sun. The information withholding which makes for an interesting glimpse of a troubled future is more believable since Klara narrates the whole and has a pure, believable innocence about her. I thought the little turns the story takes were interesting all the way through. It’s a simple story of service and love, and Ishiguro always excels at leaving a haunting shadow at the close.

Good, but not feeling it now, I will come back to it at some point.

I finished it, but only because I’m stubborn. While the premise and p.o.v. are unique, I ultimately wouldn’t recommend.

Like Stevens in Ishguro's classic [b:The Remains of the Day|28921|The Remains of the Day|Kazuo Ishiguro|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1327128714l/28921._SY75_.jpg|3333111], protagonist Klara has a motivation to serve that's pushed by both duty and naivety. It's a sweet trait that makes the perspective endearing, but at other times I found it annoying. As when I read that book, I just wanted our hero to do one selfish act for their own good.
