First I love CH, and I envy her because I could only dream of being published and having the success she has.

Second, this book was intense.

Third, the only thing I hated was the use of the word “slut” in reference to friendship. Idk I’ve never been a fan of that.

Anyway, at first I wasn’t sure I was going to like the book because it started off wonky. I strongly disliked the slut/whore mean girl cliché. That was enough for me to want to not read it but I’m I committed because I’m “live” CH.

Yes it was overly dramatic but it shocked me every time. She took risks going overboard and for me it worked, because she did it well.

I really enjoyed the connection between Holder and Sky. Amazing writing. The build up, the tension, the panic attack, the couple-like aspects, the fact that they forced themselves to hold off on the word I love you.

CH also does an amazing thing with all of the characters she writes, which is that she gives them a unique individualized thing. In her book Slammed, the brother had backwards day. In Ugly Love Tate has a funny inside voice ie. favorite words or the OJ scene. This book it was the I Live You thing, interesting. She has great character development. So in essence the story could be subpar but her characters are always amazing.

Love this book, not give it five stars because the beginning annoyed me and the ending was too emotional and dragged on for too long. That’s just me though.

CH, keep up the good work.

  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
  • Strong character development? It's complicated
  • Loveable characters? It's complicated
  • Diverse cast of characters? It's complicated
  • Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

It was depressing and very scattered. I thought the story was a little rushed and she tried to put too much into it at once. Perhaps it would have been better spread over two books. The characters reacted a little too much to certain things and not enough to other things (i.e. Hope's dad and what transpired with Holden). I just expected a lot more.

I’m torn with how I feel about this book. Some of it I felt like I loved, but it also felt like a big trauma dump, we kept jumping from one horrible thing to another, and it was all tied into too neatly of a bow at the end to make sense. Also, the main characters love story is interesting, he shows some signs of not being the greatest partner and some of the “steamier scenes” are just plainly inappropriate….

Overall, I don’t recommend, but I also didn’t hate it??

Also, main character was not 18 and reading about minors and their sex lives is weird to me.
